Learnstowin Radio
Privacy policy
Effective date: 14 October 2026
Delete your account and dataThis policy explains what information the Learnstowin Radio app ("the app", "we", "us") collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the app on Android (including Android Auto) and iOS, and to the Learnstowin radio service the app uses.
At a glance
- You can listen without an account. Your favorites, recently played stations, radio alarms and settings stay on your device.
- An account is only needed for Premium. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile photo and an account ID.
- For Premium members, your favorite stations, radio languages, radio alarms and app settings are stored in your account so they sync across your devices.
- Payments are handled by Google Play. We never see your card or bank details.
- There are no ads, no analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell your information.
- You can ask us to delete your account at any time: see Delete your account and data.
1. Who we are
Learnstowin Radio is published by Learnstowin. We are responsible for the information described in this policy. You can reach us at nidheeshg@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Stored only on your device
To work without an account, the app keeps the following on your device. It is not sent to us.
- Your favorite stations, recently played stations and the last station that played.
- Your settings: radio languages, theme, app language, auto reconnect, whether to stream on mobile data, and which station (if any) starts when you open the app.
- Your radio alarms: their times, repeat days, stations, labels and sound settings.
- A copy of the station list, so the app opens quickly and works when your connection is poor.
2.2 When you use the app
- Station list. The app downloads the list of stations from our server at
radioapp.learnstowin.com. Like any website, the server receives technical information needed to answer the request, such as your IP address and the time of the request. The request does not include your name, email address or account. - Audio and logos. Audio is streamed directly from each broadcaster's server, and station logos are loaded from the addresses the broadcasters provide. These servers are run by the broadcasters, not by us, and can see technical information such as your IP address and device type. Their own privacy policies apply.
- Update checks. The app uses Google Firebase Remote Config to find out whether a newer version is available or required. This uses a Firebase installation ID (a random identifier for this installation of the app, not linked to your name), together with the app version and basic device information. On Android, Google Play's in-app update service is also used to check for and install updates.
- Casting. When you open the Cast menu, the app looks for Google Cast devices (such as a Chromecast, TV or speaker) on your Wi-Fi network, using Google's Cast service. When you cast, the app sends the station's stream address, name, logo and description to the device you chose, which then plays the stream directly from the broadcaster. On iOS, the app asks for access to your local network for this, and uses it only to find Cast devices.
- Battery messages. To show short messages when you connect or disconnect a charger, the app reads the battery level and charging state on your device. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us or anyone else.
- Voice requests. When you say something like "Hey Google, play … on Learnstowin Radio" (for example in Android Auto), Google Assistant turns your speech into text and passes that text to the app, which uses it to choose a station. The app never accesses your microphone, and we do not store or receive these requests. Google's handling of voice requests is covered by Google's privacy policy.
2.3 If you sign in (Premium)
Signing in is optional and only needed for Premium. When you sign in with Google, Google Firebase Authentication gives the app:
- your name, email address and profile photo from your Google account, and
- a unique account ID created by Firebase.
If we gave you an email address and password for the app (for example for app review), you can sign in with those instead; Firebase Authentication then stores that email address and account ID.
To protect sign-in from abuse, Google also processes technical information such as your IP address and device details. We never receive your Google password.
2.4 If you are a Premium member
- Synced settings. Your radio languages, theme, app language, auto reconnect and mobile data settings, and which station starts when you open the app, with the time they last changed, are stored in your account in Google Cloud Firestore so they can sync across your devices.
- Synced favorites. Your favorite stations are stored in your account too, each with the station's name, stream address, logo, country, languages and description and the time you added it, so they appear on every device you sign in to.
- Synced radio alarms. Your radio alarms (their times, repeat days, stations, labels and sound settings) are stored in your account too, so they ring on every device you sign in to. Snoozing an alarm affects only the device it rang on.
- Recently played stations and the last station that played are not synced; they stay on your device.
- Subscription status. We keep a record of your subscription: whether it is active, when it renews or ends, the product and its state (for example active, in grace period, canceled or expired).
2.5 Purchases
Premium is sold through Google Play, which handles payment under Google's terms. We do not receive or store your card, bank or billing details. When you buy or restore Premium:
- The app gives Google Play a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your account ID, so the purchase can be linked to your account without telling Google Play who you are in our service.
- The app sends the purchase's identifier (the purchase token), the product and the app's package name to our server at
radioapp.learnstowin.com, together with a sign-in token that proves which account is making the request. Our server checks the purchase with Google Play and records your subscription status. - Google Play keeps us informed about renewals, cancellations, refunds and expiry, so your Premium status stays correct.
3. What we do not collect
- We do not show ads and do not use advertising identifiers.
- We do not use analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools.
- The app does not access your location, microphone, camera, contacts, photos or files.
- We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
4. How we use information
- To show stations and play the radio you choose, including in the background, in Android Auto and on Cast devices.
- To ring the radio alarms you set and start the station you chose when you open the app.
- To sign you in and keep your Premium settings, favorites and radio alarms in sync across your devices.
- To verify purchases, apply your Premium membership and keep its status up to date.
- To tell you when an update is available or required.
- To keep the service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems.
- To comply with the law.
We only use your information for these purposes. Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the service you asked for (for example sign-in, sync and Premium), our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable service, and our legal obligations.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only as described below.
- Google, which provides services the app relies on: Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In (sign-in), Cloud Firestore (synced settings, favorites, radio alarms and subscription status), Firebase Remote Config (update checks), Google Cast (finding and casting to Cast devices), and Google Play (purchases, subscription management and app updates). Google processes this information on our behalf or under its own terms; see the Google Privacy Policy and Privacy and Security in Firebase.
- Radio broadcasters, whose servers you connect to directly when you play a station or load its logo (see section 2.2).
- Devices you cast to. The Cast device you choose receives the station details described in section 2.2.
- Apps you choose to share with. When you share a station, the app hands a link to the app you pick. We don't receive what you share.
- Legal reasons. If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or us.
- Business transfers. If the app is transferred to a new owner, this policy will continue to apply to the information transferred.
6. App permissions
On Android, the app asks only for the permissions it needs to play radio and ring radio alarms:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Internet and network state | Download the station list, stream audio, and react when your connection changes or you switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. |
| Notifications | Show playback controls while the radio is playing, and a ringing radio alarm with Stop and Snooze. |
| Foreground service (media playback) and wake lock | Keep the radio, or a ringing alarm, playing when the screen is off or you are using other apps. |
| Alarms & reminders (exact alarms) | Ring your radio alarms on time. Android may ask you to allow this; without it, alarms may ring late. |
| Run at startup | Schedule your radio alarms again after the phone restarts. Nothing plays at startup. |
While an alarm rings, the app may raise the media volume to the alarm volume you chose, and puts it back when you stop the alarm. This needs no permission. On iOS, the app may ask for access to your local network for casting (see section 2.2).
7. How long we keep it
- On your device: until you remove it, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.
- Account, synced settings, favorites and radio alarms: until you delete your account. Signing out stops syncing but does not delete your account.
- Subscription records: while your account exists. After deletion we may keep a minimal record of purchases (such as order details and dates) where we must, for tax, accounting or fraud-prevention reasons, and only as long as the law requires.
- Server request logs: technical logs kept by our server are kept only as long as needed to run and secure the service.
8. Security
Information sent between the app, our server and Google is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to synced settings, favorites, radio alarms and subscription records is restricted so that each member can read only their own data, and only our server can change a subscription record. Purchase checks happen on our server, and the credentials used for them are never included in the app. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Your choices and rights
- Use the app without an account. Signing in is optional.
- Sign out at any time in Settings → Account → Cloud Sync.
- Cancel your subscription in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, or from Manage subscription in the app.
- Remove data from your device by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.
- Access, correct or delete your information, or withdraw your consent, by contacting us. Depending on where you live (for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act or the EU/UK GDPR), you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to receive a copy of your data, to nominate someone to act for you, or to complain to a data protection authority.
We will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm that the request comes from the account holder.
10. Delete your account and data
You can delete your Learnstowin Radio account and its data at any time:
- In the app: sign in, then go to Settings → Account → Cloud Sync → Delete account. Your account and the data stored in it are deleted straight away.
- By email, if you can no longer sign in, as follows.
- Email nidheeshg@gmail.com from the Google account you signed in with, with the subject Delete my Learnstowin Radio account.
- We will confirm your request and delete your account within 30 days.
What we delete: your sign-in account (name, email address, profile photo and account ID), your synced settings, favorites and radio alarms, and your subscription status record.
What we may keep: a minimal record of purchases where the law requires it (see How long we keep it).
Your subscription: deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel it in Google Play first so that you are not charged again.
Favorites, recently played stations, radio alarms and settings stored on your device are removed by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.
11. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Signing in requires a Google account, which is subject to Google's own age requirements. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Where data is processed
Google stores and processes information for Firebase and Google Play on servers that may be located outside your country. Where this happens, Google applies safeguards required by law to protect your information.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. We will change the effective date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will let you know in the app or on its store listing before they take effect.
14. Contact us
For questions about this policy or your information, or to make a request, contact Learnstowin at nidheeshg@gmail.com.
